(Updated) The Acting Governor ,Mr Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has cancelled traditional homages and all activities to do with the Ed-el-kabir Sallah celebration,a statement by Solomon Kumangar ,the Chief Press Secretary said.
This is to commiserate with the victims of insurgency attacks and empathize with internally displaced persons,Kumangar said ,adding the Governor called instead for prayers for Allah’s intervention to bring an end to insurgency in the State.
“The Governor’s cancellation of all Sallah activities at the Government House, follows that of the Lamido of Adamawa Muhammadu Barkido Aliyu Mustapha who earlier announced that there will be no durbar at the Palace while all District Heads were directed to remain in their domain and pray for internally displaced persons victims of insurgency”the statement said further.
Fintiri said it was unfortunate that the insurgency has continued despite the doggedness of our men and women in uniform to bring it down.
The Acting Governor thanked the people of the State for remaining uncowed by the activities of the insurgents who are hell-bent on disrupting the harmony and peaceful co-existence prevailing among the Citizens.
Boko Haram insurgent recently seized some towns in the state.But the military has been flushing them out.There has however been a groundswell of internally displaced persons from Adamawa,Borno states seeking refuge in safe areas.
Bindow Jibrilla Rejoices With Muslim Ummah
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress,APC candidate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Adamawa state, Senator Bindow Umaru Jibrilla has felicitated with muslims on Eid el Kabir.Jibrilla in a statement urged the citizens to pray for peace,good governance and the enthronement of a trustworthy leadership.
