Bala Pleads For Upward Review Of NYSC Allowances ,Hails New Petrol Price

Bala_MohammedFCT Minister, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed CON, has commended President Goodluck Jonathan for the timely reduction of the pump price of petrol (PMS) due to fall in oil prices at the international market.

The Minister made this commendation on Tuesday at Gwagwalada during the on-going campaign exercise for the 2015 General elections.

The Minister described President Jonathan as a democrat and a true leader who listens to yearnings of the people he is leading.

Senator Mohammed reiterated that with this timely gesture, it would definitely affect all sectors of the economy positively, particularly the commercial transportation where goods and services could be conveniently transported from the rural areas to the urban areas.

The Minister used the occasion to plead with the Federal Government under President Jonathan to look into the ways of reviewing upward the allowances due to members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) because the youths and the students have been very supportive.

His words: “Nigerian students have spoken here and they have shown us support, I want the NYSC allowance to be increased. On their behalf I am doing that, and I know he (President Jonathan) would do it one day”.

According to him, President Goodluck Jonathan has delivered on his Transformation Agenda in the Federal Capital Territory because the Airport and Kubwa Expressways as well as the completion and commissioning of the Phases 3 & 4 Water Treatment Plants at the Lower Usuma Dam started about 14 years ago are all living testimonies”.

“The water needs of Abuja for the next 50 years has been taken cared of by the Jonathan’s Administration and that is why even water supply to the Gwagwalada Township has drastically improved,” Senator Mohammed stressed.

On resettlement and compensation, he remarked that before now contracts were awarded by previous governments to provide basic infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory particularly district infrastructure in the FCC without adequate attention to resettlement and compensation, but with the Land Swap Initiative introduced by this government, non payment of compensation is history.

Senator Mohammed emphasized that the Administration of President Jonathan has almost concluded the issue of FCT Board of Internal Revenue to generate sufficient funds to develop the entire 8,000 square kilometers of the Federal Capital Territory.

 

The Minister reminded the residents particularly those residing in the Area Councils and Satellite Towns that the Government of President Jonathan has rejuvenated the Satellite Towns Development Agency (STDA) in order to ensure that those staying in such areas as well as those dwelling in the city centre enjoy same qualitative infrastructure.

Also speaking at the occasion, the wife of the FCT Minister, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed admonished youths to shun any act of violence and vote for President Jonathan as well as other candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) down to the members of the National Assembly.

She noted that President Jonathan has been able to practicalise his Transformation Agenda in the Federal Capital Territory and insisted “one good term, deserves another”.

The campaign train that commenced from Area 10, Garki I District, Abuja last Saturday, moved to Abaji, Kwali and later to Gwagwalada and Kuje, the Headquarters of the Kuje Area Council.

The grand finale cum North Central zonal rally where all the PDP Governors/National Assembly/States Houses of Assembly in the zone including the Senate President, Senator David Mark are expected to attend in style has been scheduled for Friday in Bwari, the headquarters of Bwari Area Council.
