Contrary to the insinuations that Presidency is behind the spate of bombings in the country, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Muhammed has declared that President Goodluck Jonathan has no hand in the bombings.
The FCT Minister stated this in Bauchi over the weekend when he led a Federal Government delegation to the Central Market, Bauchi which was rocked by bomb explosion.
He disclosed that contrary to insinuations that the administration of Jonathan was responsible for the recent spate of bombing, the President has nothing to do with it.
The Minister said: “I seize this opportunity to dissuade some of the insinuations and lies that are being said the Federal Government has a hand in some of these insurgent and bombings. It is unheard off, it is unfair for anybody to use the blood of people to play politics. Cheap popularity that can be achieved using mischief and treachery is not good. Certainly, we are not going to join issues.”
According to. him, “Federal Government is a beneficiary of the people because you have voted for us and you will continue to note for us. As Mr President has shown synergy, it can be seen during the last Christmas which was incidence free and in sha Allah this thing will continue and be sustained.”
Senator Mohammed made a donation of N20 million to assist the affected traders of the market, called on Nigerians to eschew all forms of sentiment that were being expressed in order to repeat what happened in 2011, particularly in Bauchi State where so many people dead, including corps members during the post election violence.
According to him, the false information making the rounds “was all the working of those mischievous people who are selling information which are not true..”
The minister later visited the Emir if Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, in his palace in company with the Director Genral of NEMA, Dr Mohammed Sani Sidi, where he commiserated with the traditional ruler and the people of Bauchi and the entire state over the sad incident.
The Emir expressed gratitude to the FG for identifying with the people of Bauchi during this trying period, saying that what happened was destined by God.
While praying that such should not be experienced again, the emir called on the people to be security conscious and be vigilant of their environment always.
NEMA’s DG disclosed that the government would donate building material for the reconstruction of the market, apart from donating drugs and consumables for the treatment of the victims of the blast who are receiving treatment in the hospital.
