#TrackNigeria They Peoples Democratic Party senatorial candidate in Kaduna Central, Lawal Adamu Usman, fondly called Mr LA has said that Wednesday’s judgment against PDP and its Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar would only strengthen their resolve in pursuing other available democratic options to reclaim the people’s mandate.
The presidential election tribunal on Wednesday dismissed the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. The judgement by the five-member tribunal was read by Garba Mohammed.
The tribunal ruled each of the five arguments by the PDP and Mr Abubakar against them. Mr Mohammed said the petitioners failed to prove their petition beyond reasonable doubt and the petition “is hereby dismissed in its entirety.”
All five members of the panel agreed with the lead judgement.
Remarking on the judgment, Adamu, a PDP stalwart and the senatorial candidate of the party for Kaduna Central, said he still believes that the Judiciary which remains the last available hope for the sustenance of democracy, would restore the peoples mandate to where it rightly belongs despite what he called “the antics of leaders who have no respect for the rule of law and recognised democratic values in power.
He described the approach of the PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar to reclaiming his mandate as gallantry.
“The PDP and its presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar as epitomes of decent democratic culture, civilization and etiquette shall not be deterred in their determined commitment to exploring every democratic window to reclaim the mandate voluntarily given to them by the people.
“The gallantry with which Atiku prosecuted the petition is as praiseworthy as it is encouraging to the upcoming generation of political actors to embrace peaceful and legal options in seeking redress”, he said.
