The Association Sokoto Chapter of the Association of Mobile Money Agents in Nigeria and Banking Agents has elected officials to run its affairs in the state.

A statement by the Publicity Secretary of the Association, Aminu Abdullahi Abubakar Saturday named those elected to include Atiku Abubakar, Chairman; Sadik Umar, Secretary; Abubakar Abdullahi, Treasurer; Aminu A. Abubakar, Publicity Secretary; Alhaji Danladi Abubakar Ahmadi, Adviser and Engr. Abubakar Hassan, Trustee.

It added that the Association is aimed at bringing together all Mobile and Banking Agents in Sokoto under one umbrella “with a view to coordinate and find a common platform of offering services to the people of the states, especially in local government areas where there are no banking services.

“It is also to assist Federal Government in disbursing loans, etc through mobile numbers as a new way of easing access to money in rural areas.”

The new chairman, Abubakar observed that Sokoto state had been left behind in enjoying loans, grants and cash facilities because there are no Agents that deliver this cash to people in rural areas.

He call on members of the association to come together and work towards reducing unemployment status of the youth, especially in Sokoto where government jobs are hard to secure.

“With this business of using mobile phones, we can eradicate the problems of thuggery from the society,” Abubakar said while calling on the Agents to support the new officials in discharging their mandate.
