FintiriActing Governor of Adamawa State ,Ahmadu Fintiri had debunked claims linking him with the purchase of Suv Jeeps worth N300 Million by ousted Governor Murtala Nyako.

Speaking through a statement by Mr Solomon Kumangar, his chief press secretary ,Fintiri said it was unfortunate that the attempt to link him with the acquisition of the jeeps has persisted despite the available facts to the contrary
“Our attention has been drawn to an attempt by officials of the opposition to rope the Acting Governor; Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the purchase of Suv Jeeps worth N300 Million by the ousted Nyako led Administration who is presently under probe for looting Government coffers.

“This is not unconnected with the Acting Governor’s resolve to recover the stolen funds of the State worth N82 Billion.

He claimed that “The N300 Million splashed to buy the Suvs Jeeps is ostensibly to lobby Nyako foot soldiers to his side.”

Fintiri said “It is unfortunate that the futile attempt by the opposition APC to associate the Acting Governor has persisted despite the fact that the Adamawa State Association of Local Governments of Nigeria ALGON had dismissed the allegation as patently false and a calculated attempt to distract the Acting Governor from probing members of the Nyako led Administration who okayed the purchase of the Jeeps and looted the State Treasury.

“The Chairman of Maiha Local Government Area Mallam Muhammed Jubrilla who spoke on behalf of the Association, said the purchase of the Suv Jeeps was done through the Joint Accounts when Salihu Bakari, an in-law of the ousted Governor Murtala Nyako was the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs in the State.

“The Chairman disassociated the Acting Governor with the purchase saying he did not spend any penny for the said Jeeps and therefore cannot be associated with it.

Besides, he said the Jeeps were recovered by Security Agents from top functionaries of the ousted Nyako by the Acting Governor after complains lodged by the ALGON.
“Finally, the Acting Governor should be commended for giving Local Government Areas One Hundred Percent allocations for two months.

“This will be the first time in the history of Adamawa State that Local Governments Areas in the State will receive their full allocation which was normally withheld by Ex-Governor Nyako for the past seven and a half years” the statement said.
