The State Executive Council of Accord Party in Lagos State has appointed its 39-year-old Publicity Secretary, Mr Dele Oladeji, as the acting chairman of the party in Lagos.
The State Acting Publicity Secretary, Mr Rasheed Ashogbon said this in a statement on Thursday, in Lagos.
He said that the council took the decision at the Extraordinary State Executive Council meeting, held at the party’s state secretariat in Alimosho on Wednesday.
Ashogbon said that the council considered the step imperative following the earlier suspension of the party’s chairman, MrJoseph Beckley, three weeks ago.
According to him, the state executive asked Oladeji to assume the role of the acting chairman of the party.
Speaking with NAN on his appointment, Oladeji commended the party’s leadership for reposing faith, trust and confidence in him to act, vowing not to let them down.
The acting chairman also pledged to put in his best to reposition the party to winning ways.
” I will deploy the best brains and hands in the party towards building a bigger and more vibrant party that would work to unseat the ruling party in the state,” Oladeji said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Oladeji, an IT Consultant, was the party’s House of Representatives Candidate for the Ojo Federal Constituency in the 2019 general elections. (NAN)
