President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has again called on Nigerians to cultivate the habit of building bridges of understanding, confidence and trust with each other in order to build a society where no one or group would feel neglected or oppressed.
Senator Mark reasoned that there is the urgent need to create an atmosphere of peace,and eliminate circumstances that creates fear, distrust or misconception which does no good to anyone.
Addressing delegates to the last saturday’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) local government congress in his Otukpo country home in Benue state, senator Mark said:”Time has come for all of us to discard those mundane issues that breeds disunity and tend to divide us rather bring us together as one people.
“The world is changing, we must put our acts together and join the global trend of meaningful development. We can achieve this goal if we see ourselves as one people created by one God.”.
Specifically, Senator Mark cautioned against blackmail or mischief saying that ” no amount of lies or falsehood can diminish the sanctity of the truth or the wishes of the people.”
He enjoined the people to rally round the new executive in order to succeed pointing out that ” power comes from God”.
Senator Mark however told the new executive to bring everybody on board because disaffection starts when followers feel as sense of not belonging.
He used the occasion to praise governor Gabriel Suswam for the infrastructural development of the state saying that the commissioning of a number of projects by president Goodluck Jonathan in Benue last weekend testifies to the commitment of government to serve the people creditably well.
Senator Mark therefore assured Mr. President that the national Assembly will stand solidly behind him in the onerous task of tackling the socio-political and security challenges facing the nation.
In her remarks, the PDP chairman , Otukpo local government of Benue State, Mrs. Abeji Egwa who was elected for the second term called for the cooperation of all, promising not to fail to deliver.
Chairman of the National Communication Commission(NCC), Chief, Egbe Igo in his comment, called for unity among members of the party just as he reminded the executive to lead by example.
