President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, has restated Nigeria’s commitment towards enhanced bilateral relationship with Sudan, Iran and Zambia.
Senator Mark said in a separate audience with the Ambassadors of Sudan, Iran and Zambia in his office in Abuja that Nigeria was opening its doors for friendship across the globe, to attract investments.
He told the Ambassadors that the emerging trend in the world calls for global cooperation between and among nations to combat challenges of development as well as insecurity.
Specifically, Senator Mark told the Sudanese Ambassador, Dr. Tagelsir Mahgroub Ali to relate to his home people and government to cooperate with United Nations peace mission which included Nigerians in the troubled territory on need to bring lasting peace in the area.
Senator Mark added that Nigeria was ever willing to cooperate to end the crisis in Sudan, saying that all efforts must be geared towards poverty reduction, food security and the insecurity in the region.
To the Iranian Ambassador, Mr. Saeed Koozechi, Senator Mark called for mutual collaboration between parliaments of both countries in order to enhance the process and quality of law making.
Similarly, the President of the Senate assured the Zambian Ambassador, Mr. Paul William Lumbi that Nigeria will partner with his country in the process of making a new constitution, saying Nigeria already has ample experience in that regards.
In his remarks, Sudan Ambassador, Ali expressed appreciation to Nigeria in the process of bringing peace to the crisis ridden nation.
Ali called for mutual cooperation between Nigeria and Sudan, saying that “we have much in common and we can harness our potentials and resources for the good of our citizens.”
Also commenting, the Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria praised the Nigerian Senate for bringing stability to the Nigeria polity.
Zambian Ambassador, Lumbi requested Nigeria’s assistance in the process of the proposed constitution amendment in the country.
