Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) National Legal adviser , Mr Emmanuel Enoidem has  applauded former president Olusegun Obasanjo for telling President Mohammadu Buhari to drop his second term ambition, describing him as courageous statesman. Also, the  Attorney General and commissioner for Justice Akwa Ibom Bar Uwemedimo Nwoko has expressed support for Obasanjo.

Enoidem and Nwoko who spoke separately in a telephone interview, weekend said , Obasanjo was not wrong when he said that the President has added no value to the socio economic life of Nigerians since assumption of office.

Enoidem who described the present administration as the worst in the history of Nigeria said that all indices of measuring economic, security and employment performance indicate negative under the present administration.

“Second term is not a reward for failure but for achievements in economy, security, employment and food sufficiency. Is the President going for second term for insecurity, bad economy and ignoring Nigerians. It is nonsensical for anybody to think of a second term for Buhari. He should not even contemplate it.

” Are you thinking of second term when you have not added any value to the economy, when Nigerians are increasingly becoming insecured and when the indices for measurement of the economy, employment, food sufficiency and security are all negative,” Enoidem queried.

Supporting former President Obasanjo’s  opinion as expressed in his letter to Buhari, the Akwa Ibom state Attorney General, Uwemedimo Nwoko said that aside poor performance , the President’s state of health also poses a major threat to Nigerian entrusting the leadership of the country in his hands.

“I am even surprised that President  Buhari is seeking for a second term in office. I advise that the President should live for himself and his family first. His state of health as we all have seen is not good enough for him to still occupy that seat. His family should also advise him not to do so, so that he can still live long for them.

The duo said President Buhari has lost control of the security apparatus of the country and does not have a grasp of the country’s economy even as allegations of nepotism against him are well founded because he has not been able to hide his feelings for the Fulani’s forgetting that he is father of all Nigerians.

They claimed that some of the issues against him are impeachable offenses blaming  the National Assembly for abandoning their constitutional obligations.

They advised Nigerian leaders to prevail on Buhari to take Obasanjo’s advice and drop the idea of running for a second tenure.

It would be recalled that Obasanjo had  last week asked Buhari to jettison his quest for re-election in the 2019 polls.

Buhari is yet to officially declare his interest in the 2019 general elections but some stakeholders and governors of the All Progressies Congress, APC,have endorsed him for a second term.
