Clash: Gov. Bagudu orders distribution of relief materials to displaced persons

The Kebbi Governor,  Atiku Bagudu, on Thursday visited the scene of a violent clash between farmers and herdsmen that resulted in the death of two farmers in Suru local government area of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that the deceased who, were residents of Sabon Gari Illo village,  lost their lives sequel to the clash  in the area.

Gov. Bagudu, was accompanied to the area by the commissioner of Police, Kabiru Ibrahim; officials of the SSS; the commandant of the NSCDC, Hammani Ringim as well as top government functionaries from the state and local government area.

A statement by the Press Secretary to the governor, Alhaji Abubakar Muazu, said during the visit, the governor met with leaders of herdsmen and farmers and directed that relief materials be distributed to the persons affected by the crisis.

He promised to provide financial support to members of the groups who register as cooperative bodies,  demarcate a grazing reserve in the areas as well as construct a road between Sabon Gari and Ilo.

According to the statement, the chairman of the Suru local government area, Alhaji Umar, Maigandi, commended the state governor for his prompt intervention.

He, however, called on the people in the area to shun acts capable of creating enmity among them for the promotion of peace in the area in particular and the state in general.(NAN).
