Emir of Kano ,Muhammadu Sanusi (11) has stressed the importance of girl-child education for societal development.
Sanusi, who was invited to inaugurate some projects executed by Sokoto state government spoke at the commissioning of Government Girls College of Islamic Science, Shuni on Friday.
According to him who spoke in the Hausa language, the Islamic scholar, Sheikh Usmanu Danfodiyo gave prominence to girls education to the level that his disciples felt women would have an edge on education over men.
“Sheikh Danfodiyo gave prominence to girl-child education and was training more women than men to the extent that some of his disciples felt women would dominate the affairs of Islamic religion,” Lamido said.
