In a significant move to enhance leadership within the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI), President Ambassador EO Okafor mni inaugurated the newly elected executive committee members for the Borno/Yobe State Chapter at a ceremony held at the Government Lodge in Maiduguri.
The event, attended by top government officials and members of the AANI community, marked a new chapter for the chapter’s leadership. In his opening remarks, Ambassador Okafor praised the outgoing executives for their diligent service and expressed confidence in the newly elected team.
“The Alumni Association of the National Institute plays a pivotal role in fostering national development, and this is only possible through strong leadership at both the national and regional levels,” he stated.
He continued, “The newly elected members have been entrusted with the responsibility to uphold the principles of AANI and contribute meaningfully to the growth and progress of Borno and Yobe States. We are confident in your ability to rise to the occasion and continue the tradition of excellence and service.”

“Barrister Mallam Fannami mni (Chairman, Borno State Head of Service, SEC 43, 2021)
“Alhaji Modu Ma’aji Ajiri mni (Secretary, SEC 42, 2020)
“Alhaji Kadai Abdulkadir Usman mni (Assistant Secretary, SEC 44, 2022)
“Dr. Bukar Ali Usman mni (Treasurer, SEC 40, 2018)
“Engineer Tijjani Usman Monguno mni (Legal Adviser, SEC 44, 2022).”
Ambassador Okafor emphasized the blend of experience and fresh perspectives that the new leadership team brings, which he believes will serve both the association and the states effectively.
In his acceptance speech, Barrister Mallam Fannami thanked AANI for the trust placed in him and his team. “We are deeply honoured by this responsibility, and we pledge to work in unity, ensuring that AANI remains a force for positive change in this region,” Fannami remarked.
He acknowledged the ongoing challenges faced by the region, especially in terms of security and socio-economic development, and assured that the new executive committee would collaborate closely with local authorities, community leaders, and stakeholders to address these issues.
The newly elected executives also pledged to work with the national body of AANI and other chapters to implement initiatives aimed at improving member welfare and contributing to the broader national agenda of fostering peace and development.
The ceremony signals the beginning of a new era for AANI in Borno and Yobe States, with a leadership team poised to make a lasting impact in the region.
