The Third-Estate, a socio-cultural group of Ilorin Emirate has urged electorates to be conscious of their right to vote peacefully during the forthcoming elections.
At the end of Annual General Meeting of the organisation in Ilorin, Kwara State, the President of the group, Dr. Yusuf Lawal called on major stakeholders to ensure that the elections are peaceful.
He said: “With the success of the last Presidential elections, all the major stakeholders, especially the electoral umpire, politicians and security agencies should ensure that the process leading to, during and after the elections must be peaceful and transparent.”
Dr. Yusuf Lawal also urged elected and appointed public officers to renew their vow to continuously work for the upliftment of the society and improvement of the people.
He state that “there are huge and multidimensional challenges confronting the people which must be addressed. We cannot therefore afford to rest on our oars. We must do everything within our power to ensure that we arrest the downward slide in the quality of lives of our people and provide the much needed opportunities”
At the AGM, members of the Third-Estate also renewed the tenure of their Executive Officer (EXCO) to continue in office for another two years.
The Executive members whose tenure have been renewed include Dr. Yusuf Lawal, President; Ahmed Bolaji Nagode, First Vice President; Dr. Ibrahim Gambari, Second Vice President and Shehu Usman Aladire, Treasurer.
Other officers include Abdulhakeem U . Mustafha, Legal Adviser; Yushau Abdulhameed Agaka, Publicity Secretary, Isiaka Yahaya, General Secretary and Saad Ayuba Danmusa Assistant Secretary
