Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo on Tuesday at the Hassan Usman Katsina House, Kaduna, held a peace and unity meeting with the Yobe State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party family. .
The Vice President informed all the stakeholders in the Yobe State chapter of the party, that the meeting was called by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who had asked him to felicitate with them and congratulate them for their untiring support and continued loyalty to the party and the administration.
Vice President Sambo noted that for the party to emerge victorious in the State, all stakeholders needed to form a united force, saying “We want a situation where PDP in Yobe State will come out as one family and face 2015 election, which In sha Allah we believe, we will be victorious.”
Recalling his efforts at reconciling all the aggrieved parties, the Vice President said “the outcome of primaries in every election normally comes with quite a number of challenges and Yobe State is not an exception. This is why I thank you all for coming and honoring our invitation.”
“I am pleased to inform you that I had a special meeting with Alhaji Adamu Waziri and Dr. Ngama, and I am extremely pleased to say that we have come to a good understanding and agreed that these two great stakeholders will work together in the interest of the PDP.”
He used the opportunity to “especially thank them for this loyalty to our party, loyalty to our President and loyalty to our party Chairman, ‘The Game Changer’, Dr. Adamu Mu’azu”. While also thanking “our candidates for the senatorial seat, those for the House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly.”
Accordingly, Arc Sambo called on all the stakeholders to go out as “one family and this time around, let’s ensure that we win our election in Yobe State,” assuring them that “we will give you all the necessary support that is required for this election.”
Responding, former minister of state for finance and a PDP governorship aspirant, Dr. Yarima Ngama, expressed gratitude to the President and his Vice for their concern for the progress of the State and the state chapter of the party.
He said “we are very grateful to Mr. President for asking you to come and meet us, that shows the care and concern of Mr. President for the success of our party in Yobe State. We will all march together to ensure victory for the PDP.”
Speaking also the Yobe State PDP governorship flag bearer, Alhaji Adamu Wazir, a former minister of police affairs, “pledge to work assiduously to ensure total reconciliation within the party so that all candidates will emerge victorious in the elections and contribute our quota in restoring Yobe in the Federal governance of Nigeria.
“I assure you we will carry this message further, we are going to deepen it and within the next few days, when we return and work on our home ground the reports will be available, and such report will now attract renewed interest, renewed attention, renewed support from the Federal Government,” he added.
Speaking to his fellow candidates he said “we must work together, the success of everyone of us is the success of each one of us. We have to do that to rescue our people, if our mission is to rescue our state and return good governance to our teeming population.”
Other stakeholders who spoke pledged their total loyalty to the President his Vice and the National leadership of the PDP, while also appreciating the pledge of support of the Federal Government to Yobe State.
Vice President Sambo had been having unity and Family meetings of PDP in various States, where he meets with all the aspirants that contested on the platform of the party, both those who won and those that lost out. Alhaji Adamu Waziri and Dr. Yarima Ngama contested for the governorship candidate of the PDP in Yobe State, Alhaji Waziri emerged victorious.
Present at the meeting were Governor Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State and the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Abdul Bulama, among several other PDP officials and supporters from Yobe State.
