Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko Thursday evening arrived Niamey, capital city of Niger Republic on a two-day official visit.
Said to be on invitation by President Mahamadou Issoufou, Wamakko was received at the Aeroport Internationale Diori Hamani by top Nigerian government official, including Nigerian Ambassador to Niger.
A statement from Niamey made available to Newsdiaryonline by Special Assistant to the Governor on ICT, Aminu Abdullahi Abubakar said the governor was conveyed to the Presidential Palace where he met President Issoufou.
“They deliberated on a number of issues ranging from security, business ties, agriculture, Health and many others,” the statement read in part.
The meeting, which is expected to result in another round between the two personalities, also discussed avenues of bilateral interest in railway extension to Illela International Market in Sokoto state.
Sokoto state government has constructed access roads to ease transportation between Niger Republic and Nigeria through Sokoto.
The state is bordered by the states of Dosso, Tahou and Maradi.
On the governor’s entourage were APC State Chairman, Alhaji Bala Hassan Abubakar; Secretary to the state government, Alhaji Sahabi Isa Gada; Commissioners of Works, Education and Environment, Alhaji Ummaru Nagwari, Alhaji Bello Yusuf Dingyadi and Alhaji Muhammad Jabbi Kilgori, respectively.
Others include Member Sokoto state House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Ruwa Bunkari; Caretaker Chairman of Gudu Local government, Musa Gudu and District Head of Gidan Bubu, Alhaji Muhammad Shehu Gidado.
