NYSC D-G tasks corps members on skills acquisition training, obedience

The Acting Director-General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Christy Uba, has urged corps members to embrace Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) trainings and be law abiding. 

Uba made the call at the swearing- in of the 604 corps members in the 2022 Batch C, Stream II, deployed to Sokoto state on Tuesday at Wamakko Permanent Orientation Camp..

The Acting D-G who was represented by Alhaji Muhammadu Nakamba, the Sokoto State NYSC Coordinator, advised the corps members to take the training seriously as white collar jobs were not readily available.

She said NYSC management would continue to work with relevant stakeholders for the success of the SAED programmes.

She urged the corps members to participate fully in camp activities including lectures, drills, sports and the SAED training during their three week orientation course.

“You are expected to choose from any of the skill areas and make yourselves available for the training from the orientation camp.

” The scheme is designed by the founding fathers to groom youths to take leadership roles and positions in order to build a strong, peaceful, united and prosperous Nigeria,” she said.

The acting D-G appealed to stakeholders to support the establishment of the NYSC Trust Fund, which according to her, is awaiting accent by the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari.

Uba also congratulated the 604 corps members comprising 202 males and 402 females for successfully completing a stage of their Studies.

She also commended them for making themselves available for the national service to contribute their quota to the development of the state and country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the Chief Judge of Sokoto state, Justice Sa’idu Sifawa, administered oath to the corps members. (NAN)
