FintiriThe acting Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has said that the impeached governor Murtala Nyako “foisted an implacable kleptocracy on the state”. Fintiri disclosed this through a statement Wednesday by Babayola Mohammed Toungo, his principal special assistant on media.

Nyako had in statement by his media aide, Ahmad Sajoh described the attempt to probe his alleged N80billion looting of the state as ‘ridiculous’.

But Fintiri said through his aide “Much as we are averse to joining issues with the personalities of the past administration, we are forced by the puerile attempt of Sajoh to curry the sympathy of the gullible in an underhand manner by attempting to play the role of the victim. It is our believe that the people can discern right from wrong and should know who deserves their sympathy and who doesn’t.
Toungo ‘s statement said “The state broadcast by his Excellency, Right Honourable Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, which elicited Sajoh’s umbrage, was based on facts and figures and not figment of anybody’s imagination. The figures released by his Excellency to the public were arrived at after series of meetings with Nyako’s Bankers from whence he picked his financial adviser, who himself is now a frequent guest of the EFCC. The condition of the state today may not be unconnected with the quality of advice given to Nyako, if the response from Sajoh is to be a yardstick.

Continuing, he acting governor’s aide said ,“We have been told that Nyako was a fantastic navigator in the Navy – and we don’t doubt that. But he proved to be a woeful navigator of statecraft, who foisted an implacable kleptocracy on the state. He was advised of an impending collusion with a giant iceberg six thousand nautical miles before impact, yet he steered the Adamawa ship to collide with the iceberg head-on. This is not surprising considering the kind of crew he had on board, egging him on.

He further said “Adamawa state was administered in a monarchical manner akin to the Arab monarchies with no difference between the purse of the state and that of the royals. We may as yet discover who deserve the sympathy of the people when the can of worms is finally opened.

“If I were to be Nyako’s adviser, I will definitely advise him to lie low and wait for the Judicial Panel Inquiry to be empanelled to come and clear his name. Sajoh should do well to allow sleeping dogs lie till their natural waking up time instead of opening a Pandora’s box that may not be closed easily. A word is enough for the wise”Toungo said .
