(File copy of a village after attack in the north east)The embattled village of Damboa in Borno State north east Nigeria which has faced several attacks from suspected Boko Haram gunmen has been invaded again .Residents who reached out to reporters in Maiduguri spoke about battling to cope with corpses in the village which is over 80 km south of the state capital,Maiduguri.
Aside from people that were killed in this latest fighting which officials in Maiduguri have confirmed, several houses were also set ablaze.
“The death casualty could be very high because my contacts in Damboa said they are still picking and piling the corpses, but many houses, nearly half of what remains of the several attacked town has been burnt”, Abbas Gava ,a vigilante official told a reporter in Maiduguri.
He said the gunmen came in the wee hours as the villagers prepared for their prayers.
There have been reports of late of clashes between the sect and Nigerian troops around Damboa ,especially after the sect sacked a military post weeks ago.
