A 29-year-old tricycle rider, Kelvin Uzor, on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly hitting a pedestrian.
Uzor, a resident of Peace Estate in Ikola, Lagos, is facing a three-count charge of reckless driving, disobedience to traffic rules and over-speeding.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp Kenrich Nomayo, alleged the defendant drove a tricycle with registration number BDG470QK, in a dangerous manner and injured one Mrs Yetunde Odumade.
Nomayo told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 21 at 8.10 p.m. at Iyana-Ipaja Roundabout in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
He submitted that the defendant drove the tricycle against traffic and knocked down the victim.
The prosecutor said the alleged offences violated Sections 19(1), 50 and 51 of the Road Traffic Laws of Lagos State, 2018.
Magistrate Elizabeth Adeola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adeola ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and have evidence of two years’ tax payment to Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case until March 9 for mention. (NAN)
