Christmas: FRSC deploys 1,214 personnel, 29 patrol vehicles in Kaduna

 The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has  deployed 1,214 personnel, 535 Special Marshals and 29 vehicles for patrol in Kaduna State to ensure free flow of traffic during the Yuletide.

The Sector Commander in the state, Mr Hafiz Mohammed, announced this at a news conference on Tuesday.

Mohammed said that the state government had also supported the corps with one tow truck, nine ambulances as well as extricating machines, traffic cones, body cameras, radar gun and breathalysers.

“These (equipment) will be distributed on designated routes as part of measures toward ensuring hitch-free yuletide between Dec. 17 and Jan.15, 2022.’’

The sector commander said that this was to ensure sanity in Kaduna metropolis and on the expressways during the Christmas/New Year.

“We will carry out massive deployment of personnel and logistics along critical flash points and road diversions, including Maraban Isa, Audu Jongwan, Audu Ogbe Farm along Kaduna-Abuja road and Rigachikun Bridge.’’

Mohammed said the exercise would also witness setting up of traffic control and rescue camps, especially at Kwanan Farakwai and Durbin Rauga.

He added that 12 Unit Commands, eight Outpost, 13 Station Offices and eight ambulance service points would be activated along six major roads.

Mohammed listed the major six roads as Kaduna-Abuja, Kaduna-Zaria, Zaria -Kano, Zaria-Giwa, Kaduna-Birnin Gwari and Kaduna-Kachia.

He said that the others were Barde-Forest and Akwanga-Gwantu Expressways, adding that this was part of measures to mitigate speed related crashes during the season.

Mohammed said, “Motorists and passengers should note that road traffic crashes are avoidable only when we comply with traffic rules and regulations.’’ (NAN)
