The president of the senate, Dr David Mark  has said that the Bill for an Act to provide for the Establishment of the New Partnership for Africa Development  (NAPAD) Commission when passed into law will certainly facilitate and strenghten the great effort of NAPAD on it’s mandate towards ensuring the sustainable development of Africa as well as contribute to the credence of Nigeria’s leadership in Africa.

He stated further that NEPAD as a commission will give some degree of independence that will coordinate and mobilize human, materials and financial resources to address high level of advocacy on issues of good governance, poverty, youth employment as well as a National platform for collaborative knowledge, information sharing and ideas for the purpose of transforming Nigeria for the better.

Senator Mark said this in his address to stakeholders on the occasion of a historic two days public hearing for a Bill to establish the New Partnership for Africa Development Commission held in the nation’s capital Abuja, Nigeria.

He also canvassed the need for the diplomatic relationship on  the Africa continent to have a pragmatic focus, a new focus and template which the commission will provide, which according to the Senate President is the initiative that prompted the National Assembly’s recent inauguration of the executive to anchor the Africa legislative summit. He stressed  that ‘Africans should believe in themselves and in their sensitivities to do our’ things our own way without however, being out of tune with global best practices’.
