The People’s Democratic Party(PDP) Kwara State Chapter has charged opposition parties in the state to offer credible alternatives to government programs and shun petty politicking.
In a statement issued in Ilorin by the party, its director of publicity, Alh. Mas’ud Adebimpe, said the opposition has elevated empty criticism of government policies and officials to an art in a futile attempt to gain relevance in Kwara Politics.
The PDP, which accused the ACN and other opposition parties in the state of trying to create disenchantement in the populace through falsehood and negativity, said only through credible opposition can the current democratic experience in the country can strenghtened for the sake of the people.
‘The opposition should rise beyond playing petty politicking and engage with the PDP administration at the level of credible ideas and policies. The evolving transformantion of Kwara State midwifed by former Governor Bukola Saraki and continued by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed is there for all to see. Opposition parties should proffer superior alternatives instead of criticising for its sake’.
The PDP described the opposition’s actions as a disservice to the people they aspire to lead as the populace is clearly satisfied with the state government’s development strides.
Adebimpe alerted the people of Kwara to what he described as plans by the opposition to heat the polity by indulging in disinformation and attacking government programmes regardless of the merits of such initiatives.
‘We are aware of plans by the opposition to generate disaffection against the government by raising false alarms and sponsoring negative media stories about the high- performing Ahmed administration.
‘We urge the people of Kwara State to remain steadfast in their support of the PDP administration and ignore the antics of the opposition whose ranks are daily being depleted by disillussioned decampees’, said Adebimpe.
The PDP particularly advised the ACN to put its house in order and desist from needless attacks on government which only shows the opposition as insincere about governance in Kwara.
