A group, CPC Concerned Citizens of Kaduna State has cautioned against the antics of agents of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP who are seeking to belong to the on-going merger talks between the Action Congress of Nigeria ,ACN and Congress for Progressive Change,CPC.
The CPC Concerned Citizens of Kaduna state said in a statement emailed to Newsdiaryonline “We wish to, unequivocally, reject the acceptance of any disenchanted member of the PDP into the merger. Under all circumstances, those PDP characters pretending to be disenchanted from the South-West, Edo and Anambra states are fake, in the real sense of it.
Alhaji Shuaib Lili the interim chairman and Dr Ahmed Tijjani, secretary noted in the press release that “We, in Kaduna State, have experienced such colossal deceit by characters like (names withheld) and his team, in Kaduna State, So also in Kebbi, Bauchi etc. where similar havoc and insincerity were meted to the then ANPP and CPC alike.”
“As custodians of democratic norms, not only in Kaduna State, but the nation at large, we warn that such manifestation by the PDP has already been hatched on a massive scale to disrupt and dilute the strength of the merger all over the federation. You are warned!”
“It is a great mistake and senseless conclusion that the formation of the party of rightist of the disenchanted PDP zealots and the honourable leftist of the ACN and CPC could ever blend to form any ideological base for the right governance in the country.
“Be it done, now. The merger shall, surely, suffer a setback, in the nearest future by those disgruntled elements.
“We remain loyal and encourage all patriotic and meaningful Nigerians, to support this merger in rescuing the country and its people from an almost concluded disaster, in the hands of those camouflaging to be members of a political party, called the PDP.”

CPC CONCERNED CITIZENS
Kaduna State
22nd January, 2013.
PRESS RELEASE
We wish to express our concern for the kind of utterances and expressions being made by those considering themselves to be the vanguards of our all-in-all antigens (an immune system smart coalition), for the dislodgement of undemocratic leadership and insincere administration being dished to the honourable and innocent citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, under the People’s Democratic Party, the PDP.
The antigens, in concrete terms of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the Congress For Progressive Change (CPC), dated to the 2003, was for the creation of a democratic body, under whatever name, for the continual battle and final wrestle of power from the hands of conclavists, hiding under the umbrella of the PDP.
It is astonishing to see how the honourable spokesman of the ACN, Alhaji Lai Mohammed was quoted out of context, when the ACN rolled out its 19-member squad “that will represent the party in its merger discussions with the Congress For Progressive Change and the All Nigeria Peoples’ Party”.
It is not out of place to say that the merger was for what Alhaji Lai Mohammed referred to as an effort to avert a situation in which our country, Nigeria, totters on the edge of disaster, due to mainly lack of leadership and failure of governance by the PDP, therefore, shouldnot be a forum for external and internal dark horses trying to scuttle the merger.
We also view the utterances of honourable, ex-governor and distinguished senator of the All Nigeria Peoples’ Party, ANPP, Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim, calling on all other parties to give up their identities and collapse their structures into that of his party, in forming what he called “mega party”.
While it was an over-sight for Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim to make such utterances and calculations believed was not his thinking, we wish to, categorically, state that a lot of parties, both in the opposition and the so-called de-registered, have, as usual, been lending their support and allegiance to the CPC, and that the party did not, reasonably, make a similar call.
It is clear that the ACN and the CPC are battle-ready to actualize the merger as being a duty that they imposed on themselves ever since, therefore, others referred to as passengers in the “Noah Arc”, should continue with, according to the former Kano State governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, on the survey of their membership to rebuild themselves for the 2015 general election. We only know of thehistoricalness of understanding, romance, alliance and now, a merger, between only the Buhari Organisation and the Alliance for Democracy and the ACN and CPC, that begun since 2003.Ideally, the alliance and merger should now be credited to the ACN and the CPC while others join.
It would be recalled that such understanding that culminated into the current efforts of the merger between the ACN and the CPC, and of course, any other interested party or organization, begun in 2003 when the Buhari Organisation entered into dialogues and understandings with the AD, under the leadership of the late Adesanya and its meetings with the Afenifere that the ANPP kicked against.
In 2007 we again witnessed another fraternity between the AD and the Buhari Organisation, and in 2011, when the ANPP was busy having their romance with the PDP, the Tinubu-led ACN and the CPC built the solid foundation of the current merger talks, with all formalities reached in terms of logo/manifesto, for a possible application during the last general elections.
Therefore, the merger, as against the 2015 general elections, must be laid on the past longtime understandings and commitments. It should be viewed as, yet, not another political jamboree, but “a unity of the Nigerian people, unity of political parties and unity of the opposition”, which General Buhari tagged as no longer an option but a national imperative.
All those putting forward some conditional ties and terms for acceptance or participation should recall such arrangements and the advances made to both the ACN and the CPC, by parties such as the PRP and the Labour Party etc., and the very reasons in which almost all the current membership of the CPC took the hard decisions to opt out of the ANPP.
We again caution the strong and pillars of the merger, (ACN and CPC), to be wary of the sleepless nights they have been giving the PDP, since the last general elections, in addition to the efforts being made by the PDP in stopping any meaningful Nigerian organization and parties from backing the merger and, in the alternative, the use of those said to be begging for the membership of PDP, to detour into the merger, under their former parties, for a havoc.
We wish to, unequivocally, reject the acceptance of any disenchanted member of the PDP into the merger. Under all circumstances, those PDP characters pretending to be disenchanted from the South-West, Edo and Anambra states are fake, in the real sense of it.
We, in Kaduna State, have experienced such colossal deceit by characters like (Names Withheld) and his team, in Kaduna State, So also in Kebbi, Bauchi etc. where similar havoc and insincerity were meted to the then ANPP and CPC alike.
As custodians of democratic norms, not only in Kaduna State, but the nation at large, we warn that such manifestation by the PDP has already been hatched on a massive scale to disrupt and dilute the strength of the merger all over the federation. You are warned!
It is a great mistake and senseless conclusion that the formation of the party of rightist of the disenchanted PDP zealots and the honourable leftist of the ACN and CPC could ever blend to form any ideological base for the right governance in the country.
Be it done, now. The merger shall, surely, suffer a setback, in the nearest future by those disgruntled elements.
We remain loyal and encourage all patriotic and meaningful Nigerians, to support this merger in rescuing the country and its people from an almost concluded disaster, in the hands of those camouflaging to be members of a political party, called the PDP.
Signed:-
Alhaji Shu’aibu Lili Dr. Ahmed Tijjani
