#TrackNigeria: The North-West chapter of the Save Nigeria Democracy Group (SNDG) has said that the declaration of elections held in some states as ‘inconclusive’ by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has exposed the Commission’s double position.
The group also stated that INEC’s position had also unmasked President Muhammadu Buhari’s true nature.
A statement by SNDG’s spokesperson, Sani Lawal Kurmawa and made available to Newsdiaryonline Thursday, the group alleged that INEC’s selective application of the inconclusive doctrine has called Buhari’s “overblown integrity profile to question.
Kurmawa challenged INEC to explain why it only deemed it fit to cancel the elections in states perceived to be opposition strongholds and uphold those in states believed to have been won by the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Questioning Buhari’s silence in the face of what the Group called, “deliberate suppression of the will of the Nigerian voter,” Kurmawa called on the people to stand firm in resisting and emerging “face of fascism in the country.
He argued that the same procedural circumstances that informed INEC’s “inconclusive poll decision” in some states ought to have justifiably extend to elections of some APC candidates including that of President Buhari himself.
“The margin between Buhari and Atiku is 3.5 million votes and the total cancellation is 5.5 million votes, yet the election was upheld and Buhari declared winner by INEC.
“Elsewhere, Orji Kalu of APC scored 30,201 votes and Ohuabunwen of PDP scored 20, 801 with a total cancelled votes of 38,526. Why was Kalu declared winner of the election while lesser circumstances in comparison were declared inconclusive in Kano, Sokoto, Benue, Adamawa, Taraba and Plateau which are opposition swing states?” Kurmawa charged.
