#TrackNigeria – The National Orientation Agency NOA has tasked all traditional rulers, Stakeholders across the country to tackle vote buying and selling by charging it members of the need to return to the path driven by positive value as it has become a national issue in the country.
The Director General National Orientation Agency, Garba Abari made this call at the “National Dialogue in the challenge of vote buying and selling” in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to him ” in the 2019 presidential election, the challenge of vote buying and selling is assuming a dangerously new dimension as we have seen videos of ad-hoc INEC National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) staff thumb printing ballots of papers with stacks of naira notes arranged by side, ostensibly paid to them for this nefarious tack.
“As we strive to tackle this challenge of vote buying and selling the National Orientation Agency is charging all Nigerians to desist from such act and uphold self reliance, patriotism, dignity and integrity.
Also speaking, the Hon.Minister of Communications and Technology, Adebayo Shittu, stated that the phenomenon of vote buying hampered the democracy adding that it gives opportunity to electorate to elect bad leadership who would not be to represent them well as it’s ought to be
However, the minister urged the National Orientation Agency to reorient the public to know the danger if vote buying ahead of 2019 gubernatorial elections in various States.
