The Director General, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Dr Garba Abari pledged full support for the One Nigeria Reality Project.
The D.G made the pledge while responding to a request by the group for support and partnership, during a courtesy visit by the convener of the project, Chukwuma Okenwa, and some participants on Friday .
He expressed delight, especially as it was coming from a group of young men who have volunteered to work for the unity and greatness of this country .
“This is something which we have been talking about in this country, especially at a time like this. They all so are appealing through their actions, through their utterances that the young people all over the country should embrace peace.”
He further expressed belief that the group and what it represents are the ones, on whose shoulders subsequently leadership of the country will fall.
In an interview session with newsmen, Dr Abari appealed that the young people all over the country should embrace peace, and avoid being used for unwholesome practices, ballot box snatching, or as agent to cause mayhem and disturb the peace.
He added; “all in all, this is a very impressive story for which the National Orientation Agency is so pleased to be associated with. By and large, we have also decided to adopt them as ambassadors of the National Orientation Agency, because exactly what they are doing, is one of the things that the agency has set out to do….We have already committed ourselves to working with them.”
The convener of the project Mr Chukwuma, who also spoke with newsmen explained that the project is a knowledge campaign, where each of the conferences to be held will stream a course on understanding election as a civic responsibility. He added that the campaign also intends to make young Nigerians understand that elections are not just meant for a selected few.
