It is a tragic tale as 25 year-old Bello Malami of Kofar Marke area of Sokoto North local government in Sokoto metropolis allegedly killed and buried his 56 year-old father, Mallami Aliyu, in the early hours of Sunday.
Newsdiaryonline gathered from Fatima Aliyu, wife of the deceased, who is also mother of Bello that the incident happened on Sunday night at about 2am.
She said that Bello threatened to kill the late Aliyu on that fateful night at about 2am when the father was saying his Nafilat prayers.
“Bello brought out his machete and struck the father’s head until he ensured that my husband was dead before he took the corpse and buried it within the vicinity,” Mrs. Aliyu told Newsdiaryonline.
Late Aliyu was said to be a staff with the Centre for Islamic Studies of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
DSP Sani El-Mustapha, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the incident, assuring that investigation in the murder case had begun.
“The boy is in detention now and investigation has begun. Though, we discovered he was intoxicated and wasn’t himself at the moment, however the security is waiting for him to regain his consciousness before further investigation,” the PPRO said.
