A prominent Nigerian columnist, Professor Okey Ndibe was on Saturday detained by officials of the Department of State Service,DSS as he arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on Saturday.
Reports said he was taken for questioning by the officials apparently because his name remains on the watchlist still being kept by the DSS at the airport.
Ndibe was later released after being quizzed by the DSS in Lagos.
Saharareporters quoted him as having said after his release by DSS: “I told the SSS that it’s a shame a country that rolls out the red carpet for criminals would harass a writer who wages war on corruption and the corrupt.”
It could be recalled that this watchlist saga had in the past led to the quizzing of Ndibe and many had expected that it would have long been discarded.
