Governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto state has been declared as winner to represent the Sokoto North Senatorial district in the National Assembly.
He polled a total of 225,642 votes from nine local government areas of the state to beat Sen. Ahmed Maccido, who scored a total of PDP, 65,692 votes. Maccido currently represents the district.
The results as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are Kware LG – APC 24,186, PDP 6,291; Binji LG – APC 15,688, PDP 5,533 and Silame LG – APC 18,463, PDP 5,470.
Others are Sokoto South LG – APC 45,625, PDP 13,830; Wamakko LG – APC 44,185, PDP 6,699 and Tangaza LG – APC 22,893, PDP 6,563.
Additionally, in Sokoto North LG, the APC polled 41,241, PDP 11,468 and Gudu LG – APC 13,379, PDP 7,838.
Results from the remaining Senatorial districts are still being awaited.
