Vice-President Arc Mohammed Namadi Sambo on Monday led a federal government’s delegation to commiserate with the government and people of Kano state over Friday’s terror attack at the Kano Central Mosque, which has claimed several lives and left many injured.
Arc Namadi Sambo stated that they were in Kano State on behalf of President Goodluck Jonathan and the Federal Government to empathize with the Government and people of the State, to condole the families of victims who have lost their lives and to commiserate with those who have suffered injuries as a result of the dastardly act.
The Vice-President prayed for the repose of the soul of the victims of the unfortunate incident and for the fast and successful recovery of those who have suffered injuries, while promising Federal Government’s necessary support to all those that have been affected.
“Already I have been fully briefed that we have supplied a large quantity of blood from the blood banks in Kaduna and Katsina and various other arrangements to support your effort on the medication of those that are in the hospital as well as other victims.” Said Namadi Sambo
The Vice President However has called on Nigerians to be their brother’s keeper, to be security conscious and to continue to cooperate with security agencies in order for the nation to achieve its objective of bringing back peace and tranquility to the country.
Arc Namadi Sambo also frowned at mischief makers and called on them to desist from spreading false rumours of accusing government of involvement.
“I want to say it categorically clear that the government is not a party to this. The government is doing everything to arrest this terrorist acts. We are doing everything to ensure that we restore peace and normalcy.” said the Vice President
The Vice President added that security apparatus in the country where headed by Muslims from the Northern part of the country and there could be no way they would be a party to this dastardly acts of terrorism against their own people.
“The National Security Adviser Colonel Sambo Dasuki is a Muslim and from the royal house in Sokoto, the Minister of Defence General Aliyu Gusau is a Muslim from Gusau in Zamfara state, the Inspector General of Police Sulaiman Abba is a Muslim from Jigawa state and myself as the Vice President, I am A Muslim from Zaria in Kaduna State. These highly positioned people, shouldered with this responsibility by Mr. President, cannot be a party to these heinous acts against their Muslim and Christian brothers.” He said
In his remarks, Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, expressed his gratitude to President Goodluck Jonathan for the delegation that came to commiserate with them over the sad bombing incident. He added that members of Security Council in the state were working around-the-clock to protect lives and property.
“I am happy to state that there is a synergy between them (security agencies) because they are working as a family not only between themselves but also with the state government, the Emirate Council and all other stakeholders. We will continue to work together to protect our people.” Said the governor. Rabiu Kwankwaso however appealed to the Federal Government to continue to support the security agencies with arms, ammunitions, kids and welfare so that they could continue to perform effectively. He also called on the people of Kano state to continue to partner with the security agencies and the state government in order to continue to protect and defend them against these unwarranted acts of terror.
The delegation has early called at the palace of the Emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, where they paid their condolence and offered prayers for the repose of the souls of those who had lost their lives and for those who suffered injuries as well as for an end to these wanton acts of terror.
In his remarks, the Emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, expressed his emirate’s deep gratitude on the condolence visit. He said that the President and the Minister of Foreign Affairs had early called on the day of the incidence, to commiserate with him, while he was away in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform pilgrimage.
The Monarch appealed to the people of the state to accept the unfortunate incidence in good faith and to stay calm while and calling on government to strengthen the security apparatus in the country in order to defeat terrorism and other crimes and on the need to investigate such incidences so as to avoid future occurrence.
The Emir also called on the need to offer assistance to victims and areas that have been affected by such unprovoked acts of terror.
The Vice President was taken round the Central Mosque, where the bombing incidenct took place by the Emir and the Kano state Governor for on-the-spot assessment. He also visited the Kano General Hospital where most of the victims were taken to commiserate with the victims and their families.
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs Bashir Wali and Special Duties Barr Kabiru Turaki, and the Inspector of General of Police Sulaiman Abba where among members of the delegation that accompanied the Vice President.
