The Federal Airport Administration (FAA) of the United States has praised the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for taking bold steps to retain the International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) Category 1 after a rigorous exercise
This was communicated in a letter to the Acting Director General of the Authority, Engr. Benedict Adeyileka by Margaret Gilligan, the Associate Administrator for Aviation Safety, Federal Airport Administration.
The American Agency applauded the commitment and hardwork exhibited by the Federal Government of Nigeria in its safety oversight system resulting in positive findings and subsequently closing the gap with corrective actions leading to the overall success of achieving this great feat.
The FAA expressed optimism that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) continues to meet the safety oversight requirements under the international aviation standards of the Chicago Convention.
While congratulating the Authority for the feat, the FAA urged the NCAA not to relent in its commitment to developing and maintaining effective safety oversight of Nigeria’s aviation industry as it looks forward to a continuing working relationship.
It will be recalled that Nigeria first attained the Category one status in 2010 and retained it after the last recertication exercise in September this year.
