Stakeholders call for reduction of unemployment in Borno communities

Members and Stakeholders of Kingal, Filin Jirgi and Tashan Dan Fulani communities of Biu LGA of Borno State have called on government to intensify efforts toward reducing the level of Job unemployment across the three communities.

This was disclosed in a Communique issued at the end of a townhall meeting organized by key community stakeholders with the aims to provide a platform for community members and stakeholders to interact with their elected official’s duty bearers.

According to the Communique, after exhausting 4 hours of deliberation and discussion between community members and key stakeholders across the community, the following resolution were made, which include that the local government vocational centers to intensify effort toward reducing the level of Job unemployment across the three communities through providing new vocational trainings to youths, among others.

The Communique stated,”At the end of extended deliberations, the members of the community, among other things, resolved as follows: The community Members Call on the local government vocational centers to intensify effort toward reducing the level of Job unemployment across the three communities through providing new vocational trainings to youths and people within the various communities.

“The community members call on the Local Government office of the National Drug law enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to strengthen community sensitization on drug abuse and to strengthen surveillance on drug dealers.

“The community members agree to collectively come together to strengthen local security by providing information to law enforcement agencies across the Local Government so as to address the issues and challenges of insecurity in the entire local government.”

The members of Filin Jirgi community call for support from the stakeholders to demolished a drug selling cartel in their community in a view to address the morale upbringings of their children.

The community called on the Local government authority on employment of youths who have completed their education into the teaching job to address the issues of illiteracy and provide employment to reduce the vulnerability of young people.

“The community call on the local government leadership for introduction of a scheme that will mainstream the local famers associations within the communities and provide them with farming lands at a low-cost price to the members.

“The community members call on the local government authority in strengthening initiative that will address drug abuse as it’s the root cause of Violent Extremism and conflict within the communities.

“The community seek for logistical support from the local government to provide sensitization team that will collaborate with platform and conduct awareness campaigns against drugs abuse in communities and schools.

“The community resolved on proper parenting as a cornerstone of addressing the bedeviling challenges across the communities and also mitigate entry point of criminality and Violent extremism,” the Communique stated.

The community called on government to find as a matter of urgency means of livelihood to the people disengaged from work due to different reasons of civil service to reduce the rate of marriages divorces and occurrence of rape.

They urged the local government Authority to provide place of dumping refuse to each community in other to curtail the regular occurrence of fights between neighbors as a result of improper waste disposal.

The Communique was signed by Alhaji Ahmed Usman. representative of His Royal Highness, The Emir of Biu. (Alh. Mustapha Umar Mustapha 11), Hon. Alhaji Hassan Pindar Vice Chairman, Biu Local Government, Pastor Yuthama B. Hassan (EYN filin jirgi) ward, and Imam Ahmed Maina Usman Chief Imam Kingal Juma’at MosquesYawi Ward.
