There are fresh hints that Boko Haram, the militant Islamic sect may have decided to intensify attacks on selected targets henceforth. The sect it was learnt has decided to finally pull out of any form of peace talks said to be going on.
Newsdiaryonline has learnt that topshots of sect are surprised that pro- government media reports have been claiming that talks with Boko Haram are going on positively. The group, a source said, is very upset about what was reported as no positive progress has been made.
Boko Haram members have been under intense pressure as some of their top members have been arrested.Newsdiaryonline learnt that the arrests of Abu Qaqa and Kabiru Sokoto dealt a major blow to the group.
But even before the arrest of these men, government efforts led directly by President Goodluck Jonathan had been directed at reaching out to Boko Haram.Newsdiaryonline learnt that a framework for an agreement has really been worked out from what appears to be preliminary interactions. But some stakeholders in fact believe it is government that is dilly-dallying on the matter, thus obstructing any positive result.
So when reports began to emerge that positive progress has been made with respect to the group, they got angry .Some members of group say the so called dialogue going on does not have the consent of the leadership (Shura) and majority of them.It was learnt that some of them are arguing that as far as they are concerned,no dialogue has therefore started with the main group; so why would anyone claim that progressive has been made when no real dialogue has started?
Newsdiaryonline learnt that any time soon, the sect may announce an end to any form of dialogue with government as they have resolved to embark on high profile attacks.
