Sokoto CP pledges synergy for enhanced security

The Sokoto state Commissioner of Police (CP) , Murtala Usman Mani has assured that his Command would ensure that there was continued synergy with sister security organisations in the state for enhanced security in the state.

Briefing news men for the first since his assumption of office at the Command headquarters on Tuesday, the CP said that one of the most important thing in policing is building strong synergy among security agencies.

“As I resume in Sokoto as CP, I will ensure that there is synergy between my Command and other sister security agencies. This is important synergy enhances intelligence gathering and sharing. It promotes cooperation and collaboration in an atmosphere of understanding between these agencies. Therefore, I am going to strengthen synergy between us.

“The traditional institution is also vital in policing. I will ensure that the Command builds strong alliance with all traditional leaders. They are important because they know all communities within their domains. They are good sources of intelligence,” Mani said.

He added that the Vigilante groups were also useful for grassroots policing, “because useful information about criminality is gotten through them.”

Mani further said that “I feel now that I have fully resumed following my meeting today with you (Journalists). The Press has important role to play in terms of ensuring security. From today, I have fully resumed. I urge you to redouble your efforts in information dissemination and about personal security.”

He emphasised that security is a collective responsibility where all hands must be on deck to have.

Mani called on the people of Sokoto state to continue to be law-abiding and shun all criminal activities and breach of peace.
