Kaduna state Deputy Governor Nuhu Bajoga on Friday Friday visited the communities that were attacked by suspected gunmen two weeks ago as part of his assessment tour of areas affected by the recent killings in the southern part of state.
He called on the people not to take the law into their hands,saying it is not worth it, “leave revenge to God” he said.
It was gathered that the deputy governor during the visit met empty communities and villages as most villagers were yet to return to their homes.
The people affected were within the border areas of Kaduna, Plateau and Nassarawa states and most of them are still in camps within the area.
The Deputy Governor an indigene of the area was visibly shaken when he saw the level of destruction in the area.
Nuhu Bajoga assured the people he met that adequate security will be provided in the area so as to curtail future occurrence.
According to him, some of the villagers have confirmed that soldiers now come to pass the night and go back in the morning.
“I want to call on all those that have ran away from their homes for fear of further attacks to come back and continue with their Daily activities as government has promised to provide adequate security in the areas prone to attacks.
“For those that their houses has been destroyed and burnt, government is also working on the modalities for resettlement so that they can pursue their means of livelihood,” he said.
Sanga Local government chairman Mr. Emmanuel Adamu said so far over 7 villages were attacked in the area, adding that not less than 160 persons died with over 24,000 displaced with many of them scattered in the five Internally Displaced Camps (IDPs) and others with relatives.
Earlier, District Head of Nando in Sanga Local Government area, Elisha Umoru called on the Federal and state governments to station a permanent security post in the area to prevent further attack and give the people the confidence to come back to their communities.
