Kogi state First Lady,Hajiya Halima Ladi Wada has embarked on distribution of food items,consumables to beggars,quaranic schools and orphanages.
The beggars numbering over 500 are scattered around Lokoja metropolis strategically around the old lokoja market roundabout,paparanda square and orphanages to mark the eidel-kabir celebration.
An official news release said the gesture which normally characterise sallah celebrations,Christmas and special occasions like children’s day and Independent day is in line with her belief to empower the less previlege in our society as well give them a sense of belonging.
Hajiya Wada had on several fora advised wealthy individuals,corporate organisations,philantrophist to extend their hands of fellowship and show love and concern for the less previleged,women,children,widows,and the disabled in the society.
Aside humanitarian gesture,it is sacred to share with the less previleged the little we have in form of gift and kind gesture in line with the teachings of the holy books.
In their separate remarks,the cross-section of beggars,quaranic school pupils thanked the wife of the governor,while praying to Allah to guide them in their quest to bequeting a lasting good legacies in the cause of administering the state.
Also in Kogi State,Women in Mopamuro LGA of Kogi State have been told to be supportive of the Peoples Democratic Party, as it remains a platform that will enable them realize their dreams and aspirations.
Wife of the Kogi State Deputy Governor,Tokunbo Awoniyi,made the remarks at the flag-off of her monthly empowerment programme to women of the ten wards of Mopamuro LGA.
Mrs Awoniyi appealed to the women not to be deceived by sweet tongue politicians,but to remain with the Peoples Democratic Party, describing President Goodluck Jonathan and Capt Idris Wada’s administration as one that has given women sense of belonging.
Mrs Awoniyi described women as those that constitute the highest number of voters, appealed to them to desist from the pull him down syndrome, rather help to uplift one another in the course of women emancipation.
She urged the women to vote PDP at all levels of elections,describing the PDP as a party that has the love of women at heart, assured of gains of democracy to the women in the years ahead.
Mrs Awoniyi urged the women to remain focus and be hard-working,urged the beneficiary of the empowerment programme to use the money judiciously in their various businesses.
She advised the women to always put their profit aside from their capital, disclosing that tiny seeds make big impact in business.
Mrs Awoniyi urged the women to exhibit virtues of long suffering, patience, to be selfless and desist from gossips, said rather than engaging in non profitable ventures,the profit from their business, should be channeled into their children’s education and in opening new business opportunities.
Earlier in her welcome address, Mrs Shogo Williams, commended the wife of the Kogi State Deputy Governor, for making the empowerment and welfare of women of the area a priority, said helping the women to be self reliant will help build a stronger society.
Responding, one of the beneficiary,Adeyemi Aduke, said the money given to them will be channeled into the purposes intended, assured of their support and loyalty to the PDP led administration in the state.
