The Zamfara Government said it had increased the Ramadan free feeding points in the state from 150 to 803.Mr Malami Yandoto, Chairman of the Feeding Committee’s Publicity Sub-Committee disclosed this to journalists in Gusau on Saturday.Yandoto said that the increase in feeding points was a followup to Gov. Bello Matawalle’s directive that all vulnerable persons should be made to benefit from the free feeding policy throughout the 30 days of the Ramadan fast.
“This number is likely to rise to 867 feeding points because we are still identifying more centres,” he said.Yandoto added that each point would daily serve pap and akara (bean cake) to between 80 and 100 persons, including women and children.
He also said that a mechanism had been evolved to guard against mismanagement on the part of operators.According to him, the state government is currently faced with challenges of banditry, poverty, and COVID – 19. (NAN)
