ATIKU 600Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has denied media reports that he was deliberately absent at a reconciliatory meeting of the PDP North-east zone in Bauchi.

A statement by the media office of the former vice-president described as “untrue and inaccurate” the report that Atiku was deliberately absent from the reconciliatory meeting.
The statement noted that the reason why the former Vice President could not be present at the peace meeting was because of a previous appointment he had had on his schedule for the same day.

“The report in the media that Atiku Abubakar deliberately absented himself from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) peace meeting in the North East Zone is untrue and inaccurate.

“The only reason why he could not be physically present at the peace meeting was because of prior engagements he had on schedule on the day of the meeting,” the statement noted.
The statement further said that the initiative of reconciliation as being espoused by the leadership of the party is in tandem with Atiku’s belief that the PDP is too fragmented, and hence the need for the party to mend its faltering walls.

According to the statement, “the Turaki Adamawa has always supported the imperative of genuine reconciliation in the PDP in order to the bring the party back to the dreams of its founding fathers; and so, he is not and will not be opposed to any step taken towards achieving genuine reconciliation in the PDP.”
