The Peoples Democratic(PDP) Party flag bearer for Taraba state, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku, has said that Jalingo, the state capital would be upgraded into a modern city, when he becomes governor of the state, this May.
Ishaku made this disclosure when he met with members of the Nigerian Bar Association(NBA) Taraba state chapter, on Monday.
The governorship hopeful said that the town would be upgraded through proper physical planning to bring it to the standard of a modern urban area.
“We will upgrade Jalingo, our state capital, through proper planning with well layout streets, and proper markings, just like you have in advanced cities.”
Ishaku, who is also a town planner of many years, also noted that he would make Jalingo a modern city, and that attention would be given to every detail in planning the upgrade, with the view to making it a model for others in the zone.
He noted that as a planner, he is fully aware of what to do to upgrade Jalingo and make it a pride for the people of Taraba state, both home and away from home.
The PDP standard bearer, also promised to facilitate the construction of an Appeal court in Jalingo, to easy the hardship Often experienced by litigants in Taraba state.
“I will facilitate the construction of an Appeal Court here in Jalingo, so that our people will no longer have to travel to either Gombe, or other places all in search of justice, that I promise to do when I am elected governor.”
He then reaffirmed his commitment to a more lasting and permanent peace in the state, if he is elected during next month’s polls.
Responding, chairman of the state NBA, Idris Jalo, said although the association was a non-partisan body, they would support his vision for the state.
The chairman particularly commended Ishakus’ pledge to facilitate the construction of an Appeal Court in the state, and said that it would greatly enhance the work of members of the association in the state.
