There was panic among some members of Nigeria’s university community over what one source described as a probable escalation of the FG-ASUU crisis .
Some worried university workers who spoke with Newsdiaryonline said though the Federal Government has given directive for the payment of August salary for non academic staff of universities,it appears no move has been made to pay lecturers who are on ASUU-directed strike for the said month.
This quickly raised alarm bells with people expressing fears that the FG may in deed be implementing a policy of no work no pay.”This will worsen the ASUU crisis. Some senior non academic staff got their salaries for August today, even the payment for the junion non academic staff we understand is being process as their appears to be a directive to that effect ,”a source who did not want his name mentioned said.
FG may have directed the commencement of payment for non academic staff to avert the strike which they have also threatened to embark upon.
