The Ozubulu Massacre Is Unthinkable And Sacrilegious – Prince John Emeka

Former Minister of State for Water Transport and Anambra State Governorship aspirant on the Platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Prince John Emeka, has expressed utmost shock over the recent killings that occurred at St. Philips Catholic Church, Ozubulu of which scores of people lost their lives and many injured when unknown gunmen stormed the church at the early hours killing scores of congregants who assembled for the early morning service. Prince Emeka who decried the killings described the action as unthinkable and an assault oncore Igbo social value which places premium on the sanctity and sacredness of human lives.

In a strongly worded statement made available to the press, Prince Emeka also expressed his deep condolences with families who were directly affected by the ugly incident,the parishioners and parish priest of St Philip Catholic Church, the royal fatherand people of Ozubulu saying it was a most regrettable occurrence which should not have happened especially in a place of worship. He prayed God for the reposeof the soul of the deceased and grant them eternal rest.

In his statement, Prince Emeka also called for a probe into the incident so that the perpetrators of such a heinous act will be exposed and brought to justice.

“What happened in Ozubulu is worse than terrorism, it is much deeper and scarier. A wide spread investigation will help bring the masterminds of this dastardly act to justice’.  He said.

Decrying the general level of insecurity in the country which has now crept into Anambra state, Prince Emeka urged the Federal and State governments to put measures in place to forestall future reoccurrence.

The PDP governorship aspirant also enjoined the people of the state to use the Ozubulu incident to unite against insecurity and lawlessness.

‘We must take actions to prevent this seeming descent into anarchy where nothing is held sacred’.

He called for a regeneration of social values that promote hard work and integrity over primitive acquisition of wealth
