It was widely known as the coronation.But the ruling PDP tried to make it look like an election.For instance,even after all other aspirants for the National Chairmanship of the party except Bamanga Tukur ‘stepped down’,it was felt the vote for Tukur should still be held.
According Dr Haliru Bello who announced the results,Tukur garnered a total of 3185 yes votes .At least 12 people voted ‘no’,an interesting development .
Former Governor of Osun State ,Olagunsoye Oyinlola emerged national secretary of the party.Other officers of the party include Samson Jaja, deputy national secretary, Olisa Metuh,national publicity secretary, Binta Masi Garba deputy national publicity secretary Bode Mustapha,national auditor, ,Bala Kaoje,national treasurer and Dr Kema Chikwe National women Leader among others.
