The Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Thursday, led other government functionaries on a condolence visit to the home of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial leader, Gentleman Amegor over the death of his younger brother, Mr. Isaac Ekuwu Amegor.
“As Christians, we believe that God gives and takes. He has a purpose for our lives and therefore we should not mourn like unbelievers,” Obaseki said, and appealed to the Senatorial Leader to take the loss in good faith.
“You are our political and Senatorial Leader; we are with you in this period of grief. As members of your political family, we are with your biological family in your time of loss; we pray that God grants the soul of your brother eternal rest and give your family the fortitude to bear the loss,” the governor said.
Responding on behalf of the family, Gentleman Amegor expressed gratitude to the governor and other government functionaries for the visit.
“I never expected that you would come from Government House to commiserate with me and my family on the death of my younger brother. I am deeply honoured by your visit and I thank you for this show of concern and love. I will cherish this visit for the rest of my life,” the Amegor said.
The governor was accompanied on the visit by the Secretary to Edo State Government Barr. Osarodion Ogie, Special Adviser on Political and Community Matters, Chief Osaro Idah, and Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie
