The Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has commended the Katsina State Government (KTSG) for releasing backlog of promotion arrears of 1,194 workers.
Malam Habibu Bala, the Daura Local Government Chapter chairman of the union, gave the commendation while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Daura on Tuesday.
He said that,“The promotion arrears covered the period of four years, that is between 2013 and 2016.’’
He commended the state government for taking steps towards removing dichotomy between university graduates and Higher National Diploma (HND) holders in the state civil service.
He said that the gesture would help boost the morale of workers.
Bala also lauded the government for abolishing tenure system for directors in the state civil service.
He described the reinstatement of 2,500 local government staff disengaged by the past administration of Gov. Ibrahim Shema as “commendable’’.
The chairman appealed to local government staff to reciprocate government’s gesture by dedicating themselves to the service of the state.(NAN)
