The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ FCT Council, has called on stakeholders in the territory to support the development initiatives of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Sen. Bala Mohammed.
Chairman of the Council, Comrade Chuks Ehirim, in a statement in Abuja, said the development of the FCT was a collective responsibility that requires the contribution of all stakeholders.
According to Ehirim, the various steps taken by the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, to boost its internally generated revenue were welcome initiatives as the development needs of the territory are enormous.
The statement reads: “The NUJ in the FCT wishes to appeal to all stakeholders in the territory to support the various development plan of the FCTA and especially the efforts of Senator Bala Mohammed to make Abuja the dream of all well-meaning Nigerians.
“As we all know, the FCT requires huge capital outlay to achieve the numerous projects to make it a world class capital therefore the need to not only streamline the revenue generation but also to seek alternative means of internal revenue generation. It is in this regard that I urge all stakeholders to support the minister’s revenue drive for the good of all residents.”
Ehirim also praised the minister for overhauling outdoor and signages in the FCT, stressing that it would not only boost its revenue but add to the aesthetics of the city.
He further appealed to the minister not to be distracted by criticisms in his quest to leave a lasting legacy in the FCT.
