Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh announced on Friday that a ceasefire agreement has been reached with Boko Haram .The agreement was reached between Federal Government and Boko Haram.
This was swiftly posted on the twitter handle of Nigeria’s defence information thus:”ANNOUNCEMENT: Ceasefire with Boko Haram reached at end of discussions with Nigeria-Cameroon Militaries”
The tweet has a link to the website of the defence headquarters on which a brief story about the ceasefire announcement was reported thus:
“While closing the coordinating conference between Nigeria and Cameroon on trans-border military operations, the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh informed the delegates that without any prejudice to the outcome of the three days interactions and the conclusions of the forum, a cease fire agreement had been concluded between the Federal Government of Nigeria and Ahlul Sunna Li Daawa Wal Jihad. Accordingly, he directed the Service Chiefs to ensure immediate compliance with this development in the field.”
“At the meeting was the Cameroonian Chief of Defence Staff, GCA Meka Rene Claude leading his country’s military delegation. Service Chiefs and senior military officers also attended the event”, the DHQ story said.
Most Nigerian are waiting anxiously for an official confirmation from Boko Haram.Already two young Nigerians (Comrade Shehu Sani and Ahmad Salkida) with insights into the workings of the sect have reportedly expressed their reservations about the ceasefire deal .
However,Boko Haram is known to always speak on issues that concern them.And most Nigerians await the sect’s words.
