The Leader of the Senate, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN) has congratulated the Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole over his re-election. Ndoma-Egba, in a press statement issued on Monday said that going by the enthusiasm with which the people of Edo State came out to cast their ballot in the Saturday’s election, it has become clear that Nigerians have accepted democracy as the ideal system of government.
The statement further congratulated the people of Edo State and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ensuring that the election was a huge success.
The statement read: “Irrespective of the differences in party lines, it is apposite to congratulate Governor Adams Oshiomhole over his re-election. “By the margin in which the election was won and lost, it is not in doubts that the people of Edo State are not yet ready to compromise the consequences of having Governor Oshiomhole as the man to steer the affairs of their state.
“We must respect the people for the political choice that they have made, which is also a clear indication that Nigerians have accepted democracy as the most ideal system of government.
“The electoral umpire – the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) – also deserves to be commended for ensuring that the election in Edo State went peacefully and the results declared within record time.”
