The National Emergency Management Authority ,NEMA has confirmed that one dead body which it described as “burnt beyond recognition” was recovered in the course of today’s search and rescue operation at the scene of explosion in Lagos.The explosion occurred at Jankara Market in the commercial capital of Nigeria
Yushau Shuaib,NEMA’s head of public relations said in an update on Wednesday evening that, “So far one human-body that was burnt beyond recognition had been recovered from the rubble of exploded area in Lagos as reported earlier. The recovery was made when search and rescue officers were working at the scene.”

NEMA’s spokesman added that “The fire incident was triggered by suspected fireworks stored in presumed warehouse in lagos Island. At least fifteen people were treated for injuries sustained mostly from stampede during the explosion.
Though Shuaib also said “the explosion was not suspected to be a deliberate attack to cause confusion”, he equally revealed that “security agencies have commenced their investigations.”
