Labourer jailed 18 months for stealing

A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday sentenced a 35-year-old  labourer, Mohammed Ado, to 18 months imprisonment for breaking into a shop and stealing.

A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday sentenced a 35-year-old  labourer, Mohammed Ado, to 18 months imprisonment for breaking into a shop and stealing.

The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the charge.

Bokkos in his judgment, ordered the convict to pay an option  of N100,000 fine or 18 months in prison.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on Aug.16, at the Laranto Police station by one Abdul Isah, the complainant.

Gokwat said that the convict broke into the shop and stole one flat screen TV valued at N128,000, and shirts valued at N4,000.

During a police investigation, the items were recovered from him.
The police said that the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code Law. (NAN)
